83 deluxe timber bungalows are built high on stilts and nestle in the forest canopy providing a magical and unobtrusive relationship with the natural world.  All bungalows have views either to the ocean or the forested mountains.  

Paths meander through rainforests and connect with 2kms of private sandy beaches. Delightful hours are spent discovering native flora & fauna, secluded coves and rock pools.

The views from the restaurant are panoramic across the Coral Sea and forested coastline. Guests dine among the birds in the surrounding treetops whilst enjoying fine food with friendly five-star service. 

All over the resort’s 145 acres, guests find themselves in an enchanting and relaxing environment. Included in all rates are a number of guided onsite tours such as guided bird watching, beach combing, nature walks, a unique coconut odyssey and stargazing at the outdoor observatory.

Complimentary shuttle bus transfers between Thala and Port Douglas (15 minutes north) operate reguarly each day.  All tours in the Cairns and Port Douglas area pick up direct from Reception for added convenience.

Accommodation

Australian timber & granite has been used throughout creating an ambience reflecting the pristine environment.  All bungalows are airconditioned, well-appointed, have screened windows and sublime views either to the ocean or forested mountains.

Thala Beach Lodge offers four different accommodation types.

Coral Sea Bungalows

... boast spectacular ocean views, stylish natural décor, and are unobtrusively tucked away into the natural landscape.

Eucalypt Bungalows

... are privately located amongst the rainforest and provide an up-close relationship with the natural world.  These spacious rooms received a décor refurbishment end 2008 and now feature a stylish natural finish.

Jungle Walk Bungalows

... capture the intimate feel of the unique woodland forest and are furnished with a tropical-style decor.

The Sandpiper Suite

... is located on the foremost point of the headland, overlooking the two secluded beaches. Stylishly furnished, the Sandpiper Suite has a private verandah, lounge room and spacious bedroom. The perfect location to enjoy your honeymoon or special vacation. This is privacy and romance at its best.

Rate Inclusions

Rates are provided either on a 'Nature Rate/Room Only' basis (which includes accommdation, guided onsite tours & complimentary shuttle bus transfers); as well as on an 'All Inclusive' basis, which also includes:

All individual timber bungalows are secluded, private and romantic; surrounded by lush tropical gardens and great walking tracks. They nestle among the naturally existing Eucalypt forest, which was carefully preserved during construction.
