Cairns is a Port City looking to the ocean. Our oceanfront area is called the Cairns Esplanade and consists of a very long and beautifully landscaped development including parklands, childrens play parks, skate parks, an enormous swimming lagoon with the now iconic fish sculptures within the lagoon.
Many visitors who come to stay in Cairns City itself may hope for a beachfront in the city however this is not actually the case. Although the Cairns Esplanade is an excellent spot for birdwatching and a lovely place for a walk or a swim in the lagoon pool you cannot swim in the ocean here.
If you're dreaming of a tropical holiday under the coconut trees at the beach we can provide you with this paradise at Trinity Beach, Kewarra Beach or Palm Cove. These beaches are perfect if you want to enjoy some healing tropical sunshine on your ocean view balcony and head off to sleep to the sound of the ocean.
We have beachfront properties in all price ranges and styles from budget to luxury 5 star apartments at very competitive prices.
Trinity Beach is a smaller beachfront with a low key relaxed atmosphere and in general the prices are lower for your accommodation than Palm Cove. Trinity Beach has accommodation options where you can book an apartment with enormous beachfront roof terrace where you can star gaze in the evenings and enjoy a BBQ on your deck. Trinity Beach is only a 20 minute drive from the Cairns airport and all tour operators will pickup from here.
Palm Cove has some very upmarket properties and is know for the numerous Spa centres located here. Properties such as the Peppers Beach Club, The Reef House and the Sea Temple as well as some superb apartment developments are located here. The prices are a little higher in general at Palm Cove. The beach is only a 25 minute drive from the Cairns airport and all tour operators will pickup from here.
Kewarra Beach has one resort called the Kewarra Beach Resort and this is a total escape. The resort has a main restaurant long house and is beautifully landscaped within a palm forest on the beach. This resort can cater to all of your needs and all tour operators will pickup from here.
These beaches are safe and patrolled beaches and during the stinger season from November to March the beaches have stinger nets installed. All resorts have fabulous swimming pools and Trinity Beach has 2 very interesting walks on either end of this lovely cove. Expect to see dolphins, turtles and crabs here.
There is a public bus service however it is more convenient to hire a car as Cairns is a small city and our bus services are not as frequent as those in the larger centres.
Both Trinity Beach and Palm Cove have a range of restaurants and bars and facilities for families including free beachfront BBQ's and playparks. These beaches are truly beautiful and over the years have been recognised and won awards for their cleanliness and community spirit.
Come and enjoy our hidden treasures!
